What to Expect
We are building a group of skilled Dimensional Engineers to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to produce world class vehicle quality. You will be responsible for enhancing the dimensional appearance and craftsmanship of the Cybertruck, Model Y and New Products during the launch and production of the vehicle. This role requires a strong background in statistics, analysis, data collection, and mechanical knowledge to drive continuous improvement and maintain the highest standards of quality.

Joining Tesla's dynamic team as a Manufacturing Engineer provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of the Model Y and Cybertruck programs and play a vital role in shaping the future of sustainable transportation. If you have a passion for engineering excellence along with the desire to work on cutting-edge projects, we invite you to apply and be part of the electric vehicle revolution.

What You’ll Do
  • Be a key member in new product launch. Review dimensional integration tasks such as: functional requirement analysis, assembly requirement analysis, reviewing and requesting CAE studies, reviewing new part datum and attachment strategies
  • Lead and Strategize Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Oversee and prioritize projects aimed at resolving complex issues related to the dimensional appearance and overall quality of vehicles emerging at any points in assembly
  • Advanced DVA and Root Cause Analysis: Conduct comprehensive dimensional variation analysis and root cause investigations to not only identify but also predict sources of assembly issues and appearance deviations. Implement long-term corrective actions to eliminate future issues
  • Process and Tooling Optimization: Utilize software tools (CATIA V5 preferred) to innovate and enhance assembly processes, aiming to minimize variability. Lead the team in fixture tooling design, 2-D drawings, and datum strategies
  • Data Analytics Leadership: Guide junior engineers in data collection methods and perform high-level dimensional variation analyses to identify key areas for process optimization
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Serve as the key liaison between BIW Dimensional Engineering Team, Quality, Production, and other departments
  • Support the transition of a product from concept development to pilot line production and into full-rate production
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability
  • 5+ years of assembly manufacturing experience
  • Strong dimensional engineering skills and a good understanding of process design, process validation, assembly methods, and design reviews
  • Proficient in statistics to identify critical process parameters (Cpk, Cpk, and other six sigma metrics)
  • Experience in fixture design and GD&T
  • Hands-on experience modifying jigs, fixtures, and coordinating equipment installations
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills with all levels of an organization, especially skilled at working with direct labor to understand challenges and develop optimal solutions using structured methods
