Come join the commercial Cloud Marketing team at Microsoft to lead our new strategic planning function across our key businesses, including Azure, Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365. Part of the Global Demand Center, this role will be developing and facilitating our annual and quarterly planning rhythms to align across all of our marketing organizations including product marketing, Go-to-Market (GTM), and integrated marketing.

We are looking for a Director of Strategic Planning who enjoys organizing and creating structure, who has a proven track record of developing processes, systems, and structures that allow others to be successful. You will lead a process of ideation and innovation to advance our planning process and how we represent business impact aligned to our planning priorities. You will manage and maintain senior level executive relationships across marketing and sales roles to drive unity and alignment during the planning process.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-business team to develop a framework for commercial planning and performance reviews.
  • You will work across a complex set of stakeholders in other organizations to collectively design a planning process and Rhythm of Business (ROB) that meets the needs of the business. From the details of templates and workbacks, to the strategy of executive landing and investments, you will need to be able to operate at multiple levels across various projects.
  • Develop executive commercial marketing performance reviews. Working across stakeholders from many parts of the business, you will drive alignment across key metrics, provide coaching to ensure executive storytelling with actionable insights, and seek out cross business learnings.
  • Produce regular, clear executive communications. Ensuring a broad set of stakeholders are informed around planning, milestones, and performance impact will be critical for success.
  • Create and deliver business requirements for new tools and tech to the forefront of our planning process, including the use of generative AI for advancing planning.
  • Model and coach growth mindset and inclusivity to influence a high performing team, with great culture. While this is an individual contributor role, we are looking for team culture leader.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business
    • OR Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in business
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years work experience in B2B marketing, program management, professional services, consulting, business planning, strategy or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND
  • 12+ years experience in business
    • OR Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years marketing or sales experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience presenting or pitching to senior level stakeholders
  • Experience leading B2B Marketing, GTM and/or Sales planning process
  • Experience in strategic planning across sales and/or marketing with the ability to bring clarity to complex situations, with comms experience.
  • A proven track record of working in large, complex matrixed organizations, coordinating across large numbers of stakeholders
Product Marketing IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year.
