Azure Storage Blob team is looking for a talented and highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to design and develop the next generation of our object storage stack. We are building Microsoft’s cloud storage solution - Microsoft Azure Storage, which is a massively scalable, highly distributed, ubiquitously accessible storage system, designed to scale out and serve the entire world. We continue to have tremendous hockey stick growth; we have many Exabyte data stored and are designing and building systems for Zettabyte scale to support demand growth for the coming years. As a Senior Software Engineer in the Azure Blob Storage team, you will help solve the performance and scale requirements of the most demanding Machine learning, Analytics, and HPC workload. You will have opportunity to make high-impact changes daily as you build a hyper-scale storage system that may directly or indirectly be used daily by your friends and family.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain and operate services with high traffic, high resiliency with millions of requests across multiple global regions.
- Implement the next generation of enhancements in the Core Azure Blob Storage service.
- Mentor and develop engineers across all levels through sharing and learning.
- Lead technical projects and model the culture of the team.
- Responding to and mitigating any live site issues impacting customers.
- Proficient troubleshooting (debugging) skills.
- Ability to take projects from beginning to end with little direct supervision.
- Teamwork and coordination skills with ability to create clarity from ambiguity.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Java
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experiences with large scale distributed systems, multithreading, and object-oriented programming.
Other Requirements
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Java
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Java.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in software engineering practices, coding and solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, debugging, and analytical skills.
- Ability to plan, schedule and deliver quality software.
- Track record of delivering projects that include multiple components.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
