DESCRIPTION

Want to work in a start-up environment with the resources of Amazon behind you? Do you want to have direct and immediate impact on millions of customers every day? In this role, you will be a technical leader with massive impact. If you are a self-starter, enjoy building large scale distributed and orchestration systems, and are intrigued by ambiguous problems, look no further.
The Last Mile Tech team is building the next generation of products and services that will fuel future growth of Amazon's Last Mile Delivery capability. Our team is driving innovations in developing and integrating new technology platforms (Robotics etc.) and enabling speed and expansion at massive scale. This is a chance to be part of making history.

Our Team
At Amazon, the Last Mile Technology group is responsible for envisioning and developing cutting edge initiatives in delivering packages to our customers as fast and as cost effectively as possible. We own the software that enables global package delivery for parcels, Sub-Same Day ( fast delivery) and Amazon Fresh. With Amazon Flex, Amazon Hub and Amazon DSP, we enable individuals to be their own boss and earn money while delivering packages for Amazon. In all cases, we are working on the technology that ensures we are providing a great experience for partners, customers and continue to operate at increasingly large scale.

The Role
We're seeking a Technical Program Manager to be a part of our group. In this role you will be the single threaded leader owning programs to deliver complex projects to enable Speed of delivery (and ultra-fast) , Automation (Robotics) and enabling new delivery channels across multiple Director/VP organizations. Responsibilities also include identifying business and tech requirements, partnering with various internal and external stakeholders, writing specifications, scoping, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal science, operations, product, and engineering teams. You will be expected to make appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams. You will own communication through various stages of the product lifecycle: from vision documents at inception, to flashes and business review updates through implementation, and launch. You will present and share these to broad audiences including engineering and business leadership, partner teams, and stakeholders.

The right candidate will possess a strong technical background, will have demonstrated experience leading complex extra-large projects, and will have a well-rounded program management background. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, data and analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

About the team
We act as Single Threaded Leaders (STLs) who collaborate across multiple organizations to deliver on the goal(s) that are strategic, high value and requires cross functional skills in technology and program management for successful delivery. We typically collaborate with 10-15 engineering and business organizations to successfully launch a program and connect dots across these various product work streams to build a highly scalable and re-usable solution. We commit to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
