The Rural & Super Rural (RSR) Design Engineering team is searching for an innovative, solutions-oriented design engineer to spearhead new initiatives and develop the next generation of world-class industrial building designs. We seek resourceful engineers who are critical thinkers and excel in cross-functional collaboration. In this role, you will work closely with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our delivery stations. Your projects will be a variety of delivery station concepts and template-based design solutions that will enhance the effectiveness of Amazon's last mile network. You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.
Ability to travel 25% to interact with internal and external business, operational and technical leaders.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate design efforts to develop optimal delivery station design solutions for the last mile network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
• Collaboration with internal teams and external vendors and stakeholders to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in very short periods of time. • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
• Provide technical leadership for large-scale engineering projects, retrofits and building designs
• Effective communication skills, ability to execute the vision, detailed roadmap, and specific technical solutions to make a compelling business case with senior executives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 4+ years Experience in Design Engineering or Industrial engineering with automated material handling equipment, control systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing (or equivalent related experience).
- 4+ years Experience with system architecture, system simulation and analysis, optimization, statistical analysis and reliability analysis
- 4+ years Experience with ownership/management of engineering design projects
- 4+ years Experience using business/technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
- Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (or equivalent related experience)
- Experience in control systems design and scripting language.
- Experience on a product development team or innovation/Research & Development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $126,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
